Ways to Play
Learn a few ways to play with your new HeroType Conversation Cards
The Daily Hero Check-In: A Parent’s Guide
This deck contains 100 questions designed to help you discover the "Hero" inside your child. The questions are categorized into four HeroTypes: Bravery, Creativity, Curiosity, and Teamwork.
How to Play
Pick a Transition Moment: Use the deck during a consistent time, such as the car ride home, snack time, or while walking from the bus stop.
Select a Pillar: Ask your child which "Hero strength" they want to talk about today:
Bravery (Red): For reflecting on challenges and growth.
Creativity (Yellow): For sparking imagination and fun.
Curiosity (Blue): For exploring mysteries and big thoughts.
Teamwork (Green): For discussing friendship and family.
One-a-Day: Draw a single card from that category. The goal is one meaningful conversation, not a long interview.
The "Golden Rules" for Families
The "Pass" Power: If your child isn't ready to share or feels a question is too personal, let them say "Pass" and pick a different card or category.
Model the Strength: If they are stuck, answer the question yourself first. Sharing your own mistakes or "big ideas" shows them it is safe to be vulnerable.
Validate, Don't Fix: When they share a struggle, focus on the bravery it took to face it. Avoid jumping straight into "fix-it" mode.
Active Listening: Give them your full attention. The magic isn't just in the question, but in the fact that you are truly interested in the answer.
A Weekly Rhythm Example
If you prefer structure, you can assign a theme to each school day:
Monday: Bravery (Reflect on the start of the week).
Tuesday: Creativity (Spark some mid-week imagination).
Wednesday: Curiosity (Explore wonders and mysteries).
Thursday: Teamwork (Focus on school relationships).
Friday: Hero’s Choice (Let them pick any card to celebrate the weekend).
